Ronnie Kaiser wins EPT Tallinn

Switzerland gets its first champion

Ronnie ‘ronnyr3’ Kaiser recently became the first ever Swiss winner of an EPT event at EPT Tallinn. Kaiser beat a field of 282 players to snare the winning title, and a hefty prize of €275,000 ($394,491) to boot, taking his total live tournament winnings to over $700,000.

He entered the final table with a sizeable chip lead built up mostly on Day 3. The 21-year old then continued to smash the competition, personally eliminating four opponents from the eight-strong final table to reach heads-up against Grzegorz Cichocki.

Kaiser gradually wore down Cichocki’s stack before the final clash, when the Polish pro four-bet shoved with 8d-6d, and was called by Kaiser’s Ac-9s. A 5-K-A-10-9 flop clinched Kaiser’s first place finish, with runner-up Cichocki banking €180,000 ($254,788) for his troubles.

The final table standings were as follows:

1  Ronny Kaiser (Switzerland) – €275,000?
2  Gregorz Cichocki (Poland) – €180,000?
3  Raigo Aasmaa (Estonia) – €110,000?
