Online poker giant posts some staggering numbers, including dealing their ten billionth hand
PokerStars is expected to deal its ten billionth hand of poker later this month. To put that figure into perspective, it would take a typical cardroom dealer approximately 40,000 years of constant play to reach ten billion hands – some way longer than the history of human civilization.
Alternatively, they could have dealt every single hand from the 2006 WSOP main event over 16,000 times! Or how about, PokerStars are well on our way to dealing two hands per person on the planet?
To celebrate the ten billion, PokerStars will be offering some great prizes for the player lucky enough to get dealt the magic hand. Everyone at the table will be handsomely rewarded and on top of this, we’re adding $50,000 a day to various tournaments, including the Sunday Million and the Sunday Warm-up.
Quite a few million of those hands have been dealt in WSOP qualification on PokerStars over the years. Qualification for this year’s main event is typically robust with 734 qualifiers to date. While they can’t reveal player’s real names of those readying for battle in Las Vegas this July, some of you will recognize one or two of these user IDs: colson10. Reraiseallin. Lord-Black, TIJO, lirarerik, magpe, ElkY, jcamby33, GetItQuietly, -db-, bigjoe2003, Daut44, JohnnyBax, RaiNkAN, Rekwob.
Not only that, last week, the nine millionth player signed up for PokerStars. For those who think that it is mostly Scandinavians who play online poker, PokerStars would like to point out that they now have more PokerStars players than Sweden has people!
