PokerStars, the home of WSOP champions, form offical partnership with carmaker
The development of online poker and connected commercial deals continues apace and one well known offering, PokerStars, will be going even faster than the competition, roaring around the track with their logo plastered on some seriously tasty motors.
PokerStars have announced a sponsorship coup, palling up with one of the most prestigious names in motoring, and James Bond’s favourite, Aston Martin.
The deal means Aston Martin Racing cars will carry PokerStars livery in the upcoming first round of the American Le Mans Series, due to be held at the Sebring International Raceway in Florida. And the brand will get plenty of exposure as the race lasts 12 hours.
The race will take place on Saturday March 18 and both of the team’s Aston Martin DBR9 racing cars will carry the special PokerStars.com branding when they start the 54th annual Sebring endurance race.
"We are delighted to be working with PokerStars.com," said James Turner, Commercial Director of Aston Martin Racing. "The Sebring race marks the start of an exciting relationship between our two organizations and one which has a great deal of potential for growth. Like Aston Martin Racing, PokerStars is a strong, innovative brand with a worldwide presence and there look to be many opportunities for us to work together in the future."
Founded in 2001, PokerStars is the industry leader in online poker, with almost five million registered players worldwide. Like Aston Martin Racing, PokerStars is based in the United Kingdom.
Dan Goldman, PokerStars Vice President of Marketing, said, "Aston Martin Racing is a company with instant name recognition and worldwide appeal. PokerStars’ association with Aston Martin Racing marks a bold new direction for our company as we strive for ways to combine the excitement and popularity of poker with high-performance motor racing led by the world’s most exclusive sports car company."
