PokerStars NAPT

PokerStars creates its ninth region-specific tour in the shape of the North American Poker Tour, hosted by Joanna Krupa

After dominating Europe, Asia, and Latin America with its various tours, it was only going to be a matter of time until PokerStars moved into probably the most lucrative poker market of all: North America. The North American Poker Tour has five stops so far this year. The first was the PCA and the next will be the $5k main event at the Venetian’s Deep Stack Extravaganza from 20-24 February.

‘I’m really looking forward to the launch of the NAPT,’ said Daniel Negreanu. ‘PokerStars.net has done an excellent job sponsoring meaningful tournaments around the world with the EPT, LAPT, APPT and various other local tours – and it’s exciting to see them coming to my home town of Las Vegas.’

The tour is also part of an attempt to corner the US televised market. PokerStars are working with 411, the production company in charge of the WSOP TV coverage.

In news set to excite male poker fans around the world model Joanna Krupa will be the screen host for the tour. Krupa previously worked on the PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge.
