Walsall’s big money pot limit hold’em tournament is incorporated in the GUKPT with £25,000 added
One of Europe’s biggest pot limit hold’em tournaments is back and will be taking place at the Grosvenor casino in Walsall between Thursday 30 October and Sunday 2 November. However, unlike most other casino based poker tournaments, there is no way to buy in directly as the only way to take a seat in the final stages is to qualify.
Now in its sixth year, the event has been incorporated into the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) and sponsor Blue Square Poker is adding £25,000 to this year’s prize pool. In addition, the winner of the event will receive a free seat into the £3,000 GUKPT Grand Final as well as a seat into the tour’s £75,000 Champion of Champions tournament.
The super satellite qualifiers are all £50 PL Hold’em rebuy tournaments in which one in every eight players qualifies for the final stages in Walsall. There is no registration fee being charged for this event, but 5% will be deducted from the prize pool.
The live super satellite qualifiers take place on selected Saturday afternoons from 6 September to 25 October.
Play will start simultaneously at 2pm in the 20 participating Grosvenor and G casinos on qualifying days.
Online super satellites will also be taking place on selected Thursday evenings online at Blue Square Poker from 11 September to 23 October. There will be three last chance satellites at the Walsall casino during the week of the event and a full schedule of support events will be getting underway from Monday 27 October.
