PartyPoker.com have been busy this week with the announcement of a new promotion that can help you win your way to $ 1m for nothing. There’s also news of the Bad Beat Jackpot being smashed twice on the same day. Sometimes it pays to be unlucky…

The Million Dollar Hand

PartyPoker.com will introduce ‘The Million Dollar Hand’ promotion on the 11th March, with activity running until the 22nd March. The promotion offers the chance to win a cool $ 1 million or even more!

Players at PartyPoker.com’s real money tables will get a playing card for every 15 PartyPoints they earn during this period and will receive a prize when they’ve built a five-card hand. There’s a guaranteed cash prize if the hand features a pair or better – a royal flush will pay $ 1 million!

There is no limit on the number of royal flushes that can be hit and the promotion starts with players getting their first card for free. This card will be available in a player’s PartyAccount on the 11th March. Points are not removed from player accounts following the promotion – they all count towards Palladium Lounge targets.

A PartyPoker.com spokesman said: “This is an all encompassing promotion that pays $ 5 for a pair – right up to $ 1 million for a royal flush! We have had to insure ourselves against the possibility of multiple royal flushes! All a player has to do is collect points and cards throughout the period.”

PartyPoker.com Bad Beat Jackpot Hit Twice

On Sunday 8 March, the famous PartyPoker.com Bad Beat Jackpot was hit TWICE! The first time it went at $ 552,536.57 and the second time it was $ 121,853.56!

The first jackpot saw Norway’s FriendlyFrog win the princely sum of $ 276,268.29 after his quad Jacks were beaten by quad Aces on a $ 0.10- $ 0.25 cent No Limit table. Hand winner Rolf56111 from Germany scooped $ 138,134.14, while ZergRush1337 and paulapok both won $ 69,067.07 for just being in the hand.

FriendlyFrog was also a happy frog…maybe even a crazy frog. He had this to say about his win:

“I have played poker on and off for maybe 4 years. I am just a small time player, and normally play 0.25/0.50 NL, but if I do have a lucky period, I will take my chances at maybe $ 1/£ 2 NL. I play poker mostly for the fun and action of the game.”

“I normally don’t play a lot of tournaments, but have played some sit and go tournaments at times. I feel my skill is better at cash games. Losing this four of a kind Jacks hand to four of a kind Aces and winning the Bad Beat Jackpot does put things in a strange perspective. Normally a pot of maybe $ 30 is considered a fairly large pot in my games. To win more than $ 276,000 is something I have not even dreamt about.”

“On the hand I flopped 4 of a kind Jack’s (J-10-J on the flop), and checked. The other player in the hand also checked. An A came on turn, and we both checked again. Another A on the river, and my opponent made a small bet. I raised to get something from my hand, he re-raised, and I went all-in. I was surprised to see I actually lost the hand, and I did not actually think of the jackpot until I noticed the pop-up window.”

“Wow, my heart nearly stopped. It was one big surprise. I then just walked around the house for a while before contacting your lovely support staff to confirm my winnings. This all happened at 09.50 ET but by 17.29 ET the jackpot was hit again! On a $ 0.50/$ 1.00 table, Dickson_AA from Sweden scooped $ 60,926.88, with hand winner bitterbittor from Spain netting $ 30,463.44. Four other players were in the hand: ABC74123, LadyNany, speeduwe and y3sguy97 and they all took home $ 7,615.86. Dickson_AA had 8-8 and bitterbittor had K-K. The board was 8-K-3-8-K triggering the second Bad Beat Jackpot of the day!
