Georges Tohme has won the inaugural Paradise Poker Tour London event held this past weekend at the Empire Casino, home of the WSOPE. Despite strong competition from the PokerStars UKIPT taking place over the same weekend in Galway, Ireland the event drew a sell out field of 257 runners, a very encouraging number for the fledgling tour.
The field was bolstered by a raft of online qualifiers who made it into the £550 event through tour sponsor ParadisePoker.com. Also in attendance though were UK tour regulars Paul Parker, Willie Tann and PokerPlayer’s UK Player Of The Year Praz Bansi. Despite their experience and skill it was only Tann who managed to make it into the cash, finishing in 21st place.
Bryan Carroll, marketing manager for ParadisePoker.com had nothing but praise for how the event unfolded, ‘Player feedback has been great and everyone really liked the structure which we’d spent quite a long time perfecting. It was great to see the maximum number of players enter for the inaugural event which confirms our belief that there was a gap in the market for a low buy-in tournament with a great structure.’
The ParadisePoker Tour now moves on to Prague for the next leg on February 27th & 28th.
