We’re at the half way stage with urnotindangr edging ahead…
A new SuperStar Showdown kicked off this week, as Scott ‘urnotindangr’ Palmer faced Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom in the first of a two-part series.
With the downswing that Palmer has been on in 2011, Blom was a slight favourite heading into the first session. And fresh off his up-and-down clash with Daniel Negreanu last week, he was looking to improve on his recent Showdown record.
But it wasn’t to be for the Swede, who finished the session down $5,425, peanuts compared to what he took from Negreanu’s in their first session, but a loss is still a loss.
Prior to the match, the duo had a reported 75,000 hands of history between them, and railbirds were expecting a clash for ages. But things didn’t really heat up until the end of the session.
Play finally ignited when Palmer flopped a full house on a 5-2-2 board before check-calling Blom on each street. Blom fell right into Palmer’s trap, shoving with 10-high before being snaped off for a moster $58,850 pot.
The lead changed a few times after that and Palmer’s victory is the smallest since the SuperStar Showdown series began – excluding Blom’s $10 win against an online qualifier last month.
