Omar Sharif Charity Tournament

The 9th annual Omar Sharif One to One PKR Poker & Backgammon Charity Tournament takes place this Sunday, May 10th at London’s famous Sketch restaurant and club. The event commences at 5pm with a champagne reception.

There will be many other guests and surprises throughout the night including a performance by Brit-award winning band, ‘Blake’.

Also hoping to be in attendance is Jamie Oliver, who helped to raise a whopping £200,000 last year, when he auctioned dinner in his restaurant causing a bidding war, resolved when Oliver accepted the top two bids, generously throwing in an extra meal for two supervised by the TV chef.

Last year’s event and £4,000 first prize was won by Leticia White, daughter of Marco Pierre White. Joining Leticia on the final table was Norman Pace and Hotel Babylon’s Dexter Fletcher.

Recognised and respected worldwide as the UK’s leading charity poker event, raising funds for the children’s charity One to One, Phil Hellmuth comments: “I am impressed by Mr. Sharif’s effort to create peace and promote a better understanding of a wide diversity of cultures. I believe that knowing someone, and their culture, promotes liking them.”

A key part to the fund-raising aspect of the evening is the auction with lots including Stella McCartney made-to-measure Jacket, signed Harry Potter first edition, luxury safari and a one-off Jill Furmanovsky picture (the famous rock photographer will be in present at the auction).

Event tickets cost £365 which includes tournament entry and food and drink throughout the night. Additional tickets for non-playing guests can be purchased for £100.

Tournament information:

The tournament is No-limit Texas Hold’em. £100 of the £365 entry fee will go into the prize pool. There will be a 90 minute rebuy period, with rebuys + add-on at £100, of which £50 goes to the prize pool and £50 to the charity.
