Nosebleed round-up

PokerPlayer bring you the latest action from this week’s high-stakes cash games.

Player of the week:

Dan ‘jungleman12’ Cates continues to ride high on the high-stakes tables, despite losing $284,000 to Arbianight earlier this week, and with Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan plying their trade elsewhere, jungleman12 was joined atop the cash leader boards by Gus Hansen, who remains determined to chip away at the $3.68 million hole he found himself in just six weeks ago.

‘The Great Dane’ earned a tasty $348,321 over the past seven days, and although his profits took a hit during the middle of the week, Hansen battled back to finish the week with a flourish, bringing his losses for 2010 to a respectable $1.17 million.

But spare a thought for Ilari ‘Ziigmund’ Sahamies after the Finnish pro was given frost bite by the deck this week, losing more than $1,000,000. The 27-year-old cuts a forlorn figure at the moment and told his Facebook followers that “I’m f*** done with poker, sickest downswing ever’, after watching his losses tumble to $1.8 million since the start of the year.

Hand of the week:

At least Ziigmund dodged this week’s most expensive hand, as that honour went to cadillac1944 on Full Tilt’s $300/$600 PLO tables.

Facing off against DrugsOrMe, cadillac1944 overplayed his top pair and King-high flush draw on a J76 board, shoving over the top of DrugsOrMe’s three bet only to run into a set of Jacks. A second seven on the turn gave DrugsOrMe a full house and a whopping $186,761 pot.
