Player of the week: Isildur1

After this week’s announcement that cloak-and-dagger pro Isildur1 had joined PokerStars Team Pro, all eyes were on the Swedish star’s first outing on the PokerStars felt.

And the unknown player wasn’t in any mood to disappoint, pocketing $287,000 after a marathon 14-hour session of PLO and no-limit heads-up against several high-stakes names, including Brian Hastings, urnotindangr and Ashton “theASHMAN103” Griffin.

And away from the Isildur1 bubble, the durrrr Challenge picked up where it left off two months ago, with Tom Dwan and Dan ‘jungleman12’ Cates playing another 1,440 hands of their heads-up contest.

Played across two sessions, Dwan dominated jungleman12 in the first, raking in $195,000, before jungleman12 recovered slightly in the second to reduced the deficit to $172,000.

jungleman12 is still up $585,000 after 11,569 hands of the 50k Challenge, although Dwan took his overall winnings for 2010 to an impressive $3.4 million, slotting him third behind jungleman12 and skjervoy in the annual leader board.

Hand of the week:

Despite his good form, durrrr was on the losing end of this week’s best hand, a $124,778 no-limit monster with jungleman12.

With blinds $200/$400, jungleman12 raised to $800 from the button with 3-4o and durrrr called with Ah-5h. The board came 2h-Ad-6s and durrrr check-raised jungleman12 to build $10,400 in the middle. A Jh on the turn gave durrrr the nut-flush draw, but a 5 on the river completed jungleman12’s wheel and handed the juicy pot his way after both players shoved on the final street.
