Player of the week: Scott Palmer
After enduring a horrid couple of weeks, Scott ‘URnotINdangr’ Palmer replied with interest these past seven days, dominating many of poker’s big names in a scorching week at the tables.
Starting on PokerStars, Palmer saw off young sensation Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom in the first leg of their SuperStar Showdown. If he can keep the good times rolling and beat Isildur1 again this Sunday, he’ll be only the second pro to do in the past five challenges – if you count the Negreanu clash as a draw.
And Palmer manage to carry his heater across to Full Tilt, where after 16 sessions in April, he has raked in a whopping $612,655. Not a bad turn around from propping up the PokerPlayer biggest looser board last week.
This week, that honour goes to Gus Hansen, who’s come crashing down after dominating the competition in recent months. The Great Dane donked off almost a million dollars, $976,934 to be exact, in what was his first downswing of the year.
Gus is still massively up for the year, but you wouldn’t bet against his rollercoaster ways of old making a reappearance.
Hand of the week
Our pot of choice from the past seven days features two of the game’s most in from pros, as UrnotINdanger2 and OMGClayAiken found themselves part of an unbelievable four-way all-in.
The game was PLO and with the blinds at $300/600, Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan raised to $1,600 UTG before being insta 3-bet by cadillac1944 to $3,950. OMGClayAiken and LokolIsBack flat called, before Palmer fourbet to $22,250.
Everyone called but Durrrr and the flop came 3s-10s-Qc. Palmer bet pot in the small blind and that light the touchpaper, as all-ins from cadillac1944, OMGClayAiken and LokolIsBack came in quick succession
Luckilly for Plamer, he had the best of it with a set of queens and he managed to dodge OMGClayAiken’s overpair and flush draw, the best of the mucked hands, to scoop the $368,717 pot when the turn and river blanked.
