Negreanu strikes back

Kid Poker rallies to beat Swede second time round

Barely a week has passed since Daniel Negreanu’s comprehensive hammering at the hands of Swedish superstar Isildur1. But the duo locked horns again in another epic heads up battle last sunday, and this time Negreanu overturned an early deficit to emerge victorious.

Railbirds revelled in Isildur1’s record-breaking defeat of Negreanu 10 days ago, where his challenge bankroll of $150,000 was lost to Blom in just 1,439 hands. And the Swede was odds on favourite to repeat the feat in the pair’s much-anticipated SuperStar Showdown rematch.

Blom raked in 80% of Daniel’s stack within 1,300 hands, and onlookers could have been forgiven for thinking it was a forgone conclusion that he’d add to his five game winning streak.

But Negreanu rallied, and within an hour of being down to $30k he was stuck just $7,800. The Canadian’s spirited come back continued, and with just 350 hands remaining he took the lead for the first time before closing the day $26,500 to the good.

“gg, nice comeback!” Blom wrote after the dust had settled. “I won? Wow sick! gg man thanks,” replied Negreany, who went on to admit that he took out some of his frustration on the contents of his house before clawing his way back.

Scott ‘urnotindangr’ Palmer is next in to the SuperStar Showdown ring next week and PokerPlayer will be there to bring you all the action.
