Supernova Elite takes down €166k prize in Italy
The post-WSOP tournament schedule is back to the delight of those who couldn’t make it to Vegas this summer, and Italian Alessandro Meoni has wasted no time in getting his name in lights, netting €166k with a dramatic victory at the Italian Poker Tour in San Remo this week.
Meoni defeated 375 players over five days to lift the title, and the Supernova Elite, who makes a living on PokerStars under the screen name “Cippino1” and has already proved his skills on the live stage, took his career earnings to a healthy $422,063 in total.
The 29-year-old crushed the final table, and, after seeing off Bonometti David in ninth followed by Andrea Dato in fifth, Meoni added the scalps of Frenchman Julien Norbert and Raffaele Bertolucci in third and second respectively to claim the win.
As play moved into heads-up, Meoni held a slight chip advantage over Bertolucci, an hour later it was all over. In the final hand, Bertolucci open-shoved 10-9 into his fellow Italian’s A-K and a King on the flop was good enough to send Bertolucci to the rail.
So, with IPT San Remo done, and EPT Barcelona and WPT Cyprus looming on the horizon, the tournament schedule is picking up pace once again. Thank god! We were starting to suffer from that post-WSOP blues thingy…
Here’s how IPT San Remo finished up:
1. Alessandro Meoni €166,000
2. Raffaele Bertolucci €129,000
3. Julien Norbert Dolay €71,500
4. Nicolo Allisiardi €53,500
