Jon ‘Skalie’ Kalmar will sit down at the final table of the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event
There will be a British player at the final table of the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event.
Jon ‘Skalie’ Kalmar, from Chorley in Lancashire, will sit down at 12 noon Vegas time on 17 July to contest the biggest prize in poker. He had a fantastic Day 6, beginning on 2.6 million in chips before shifting throught the gears, and ending up on 20.3 million.
He is now superbly positioned, in third place in chips, to have a real crack at taking down the big one. Not bad for a player who won his Main Event seat through a $500 super satellite in Las Vegas, the Sunday before the $10,000 World Championship event began.
The last big name pro eliminated was Scotty Nguyen who exited in 11th place, winning $476,926 for his six days work.
There was to be a further 4 hours play until the final day bubble burst. With the clocking ticking past 4am, the ten remaining players played down to nine, with Steven Garfinkle the unlucky player to depart in tenth, pocketing the same amount as Nguyen, $476,926.
After their late finish, the nine remaining players have a day off, before sitting down for the most important poker session of their lives, and the chance to win the $8.25 million first place prize.
The Main Event tournament began on 6 July and the final table will convene at 12 noon on 17 July.
The $10,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship Event #55 has attracted 6,358 players who have contributed to a total prizepool of $59,784,954, with a first place prize of $8.25 million.
