Main Event champ victim of home invasion
Like many of us, 2010 WSOP Main Event champ Jonathan Duhamel will wake with a sore head tomorrow, but not because of one too many Jägerbombs at the Christmas party. According to reports from Canada, the 24-year-old fell victim to a home invasion this week and has been treated for minor injuries.
Duhamel, who hit the headlines last November when he won $8.9m and the coveted Main Event bracelet, opened the door to two unwelcome visitors on Wednesday morning before they forced themselves into his home.
And while police have withheld any names of those involved, Duhamel’s agent, Philipe Jette confirmed that the Main Event champ was the recipient of the bad beat.
‘Let’s say that getting out of bed will be particularly hard tomorrow and that his Christmas photos won’t be the prettiest,’ said Jette. ‘But Jonathan got out without serious injuries.’
No arrests have been made and police are expected to release details of the attack at a later date.
UPDATE: Reports have suggested that Duhamel’s diamond-encrusted WSOP Main Event bracelet was among several items stolen from his home. Oh well, he probably didn’t wear it anyway…
