Jesper Hougaard’s ECOOP success

bet365 pro Jesper Hougaard takes 2nd place in an early ECOOP event

Online poker room bet365’s professional poker player Jesper Hougaard has once again added to his amazing success in 2008 by finishing second place in a prestigious ECOOP event this week.

Jesper, who already has WSOP and WSOPE bracelets to his name this year, added $28,480 to his prize money tally with a hard-fought runners up spot in the $1,000 Pot-limit Omaha event at the third European Championship Of Online Poker. The ECOOP events offer over $4 million in guaranteed prizes over 14 days of competition, with the best online poker players battling it out for prize pools of up to $1.5million.

Hougaard freely admits to usually favouring cash games when playing online at Poker at bet365, but he was, “very excited” about ECOOP III. Jesper commented, “The events have great structures, good guaranteed prize money, lots of runners and are generally surrounded by a lot of prestige.”

Hougaard had to settle for second place following a gruelling heads-up battle against well-respected fellow pro Jeff Kimber that lasted almost 2 hours. Jesper was, “desperately disappointed” at the time, despite adding over $28,000 to his bankroll, but he is now aiming to go one further in the remaining ECOOP events – and given the 24-year-old’s success so far in 2008, who would bet against it!

Players can follow Jesper’s progress and take him on at the tables as “PieForYou” in bet365’s regular Beat the Pro and Poker School events – check out Poker at bet365 for details.
