Jeffrey Pollack Resigns

WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack has announced an ‘amicable’ split from the WSOP and parent company Harrah’s. Pollack emphasised that the decision was completely drama-free. ‘It was just time for me to go. I had very specific goals when I came here in 2005 and those goals have been accomplished.’

Pollack was hired by Harrah’s in 2005 as VP of Marketing but was promoted to Commissioner in 2006. Although he came from a non-poker background, there is no doubt that he helped the franchise grow immensely. Since 2006, WSOP attendance has gone up 88%.

Pollack was also responsible for a raft of innovations including the delayed final table and the November Nine, the $50k HORSE and the WSOPE. From his own point of view, Pollack says that his proudest achievement was improving the ‘player experience’ year on year. Pollack says that he has not made a decision on his next step but that he hasn’t ruled out remaining in the poker industry.
