British triple crown winner earns pro status
British young-gun Jake Cody has just been announced as the latest member to join Team PokerStars as a fully fledged pro. The 24-year-old originally from Rochdale, joins an exclusive list of British pros, which includes the likes of Victoria Coren and Liv Boeree. Cody, who burst onto the poker scene after winning the EPT Deauville back in January 2010 and hasn’t looked back since, adding a WPT and WSOP title to his impressive list of achievements making him the youngest and one of only four players to achieve pokers rare ‘Triple Crown‘. Already with over $3 million amassed in live tournament winnings not to mention his online earning, few people would argue that Cody is one of the games hottest young talents.
Currently, Cody is in the Bahamas at the Atlantis Hotel and Resort playing in the $10k Main Event of PokerStars’ most popular live event of the year, the PCA, and it was there just before he was about to start playing on day 1B that he received his Team PokerStars badge, which was presented to him by fellow team mate Daniel Negreanu. “It probably sounds quite silly but it is literally a dream come true. I know it’s something that everyone says but it genuinely is. It’s something I’ve been working at for a while now. For it to actually happen… it’s awesome,” said Cody.
