Swedish online poker sensation ends sponsorship deal with PokerStars after less than 2 years.
The world’s most fearless online poker player, Viktor “Isildur1” Blom is no longer a PokerStars Team Pro.
Blom, who has played in more than his fair share of the largest pots in online poker history, signed for PokerStars anonymously back in late 2010, before his true identity was revealed the following January.
Blom started out his career as a PokerStars Pro by hosting the ‘SuperStar Showdown‘ series where he won most of the matches that he played in.
Since signing with PokerStars, Blom’s tournament record has hugely improved with highlights including winning over $1 million earlier this year at the PCA high-roller event and back-to-back high-roller SCOOP wins for a combined total of just over $400k.
Eric Hollreiser, PokerStars’ Head of Corporate Communications, is reported to have confirmed that Blom’s contract was not renewed by “mutual agreement.” The details of exactly why Blom decided to end his multi-million dollar deal are still unknown but it almost certainly has something to do with PokerStars acquisition of Full Tilt. The poker room where Blom first burst onto the scene could be up and running again in as little as 3 months, and if that is the case Blom would undoubtably want to be free to play on the site, something that would not have been possible if he remained a PokerStars Team Pro.
