Durrrr on an epic $3m downswing at the hands of unknown nosebleeder Isildur1
After a truly terrible week online wunderkind Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan is now online poker’s largest loser for the year, down around $4,400,000 across the Pot Limit Omaha and No Limit Hold’em tables on Full Tilt Poker.
It’s a huge turnaround for durrrr who is usually one of the site’s biggest winners. Much of his downfall has come in the last few days against a previously unknown player called ‘Isildur1’. The two have had some marathon heads-up sessions this week at the $500/$1000 tables which have seen durrrr lose the incredible sum of over $3m.
It’s not the first time this year that an unknown has jumped into the nosebleed games and caused a stir. A few months ago a European player with the handle ‘Martonas’ stormed into the games, had a few big wins and was then promptly sent packing by durrrr, Ivey and co. Though it’s early days it appears that the unknown Isildur1 is here to stay however. He certainly seems to have an edge over durrrr, completely dominating him in each session they have played. Though there have been a number of cooler hands which have almost always fell the newcomer’s way Isildur1 has also been outplaying durrrr in a number of hands, using his hyper-aggressive nature against him by inducing a number of bluffs.
Even after losing these huge amounts durrrr has vowed to get back on the tables as soon as he can to try and win some of it back. Currently, he is in Las Vegas filming the sixth season of High Stakes Poker – it will be fascinating to see if durrrr is able to play well on camera while suffering consistent losses on his laptop back in the hotel room.
The new Team Full Tilt pro has the eyes of the internet railbirds on him at the minute but Tom Dwan has proven time and again that he has the skill, tenacity and bankroll to bounce back from big losses before. Maybe Isildur1 should take his money and run now before he goes the way of Martonas…
