Irish Open on TV

The €2 million guaranteed paddypowerpoker Irish Open to be shown on RTÉ Two in Ireland over Easter

paddypowerpoker.com, in association with Winmedia International Ltd, has announced the television broadcast details of the 26th Irish Open.

Extensive coverage of Europe’s largest and longest running poker tournament will be televised by Ireland’s national broadcaster RTÉ across Easter weekend.

Highlights of all the day’s action will be featured in a dedicated 90 minute programme each night on RTÉ Two on:

Saturday 7 April from 11.35pm (following golf)
Sunday 8 April from 12.00am (following golf)
Monday 9 April from 11.25pm (following soccer)
The programmes will be presented by Irish and UK TV presenter Liz Bonnin (Top of The Pops, Wild Trials, Celebrity Extra) and commentary will be handled by the legendary ‘voice of poker’ Jesse May along with a host of international poker stars.

This year’s event, the second longest running poker tournament in the world and one of the most prestigious, doubles in size with a €2 million guaranteed prize pool (€550,000 for the winner).

Up to 700 players pay €3,300 (+€200 reg) to play over Easter weekend 2007 against the best players in the world.

Last year, Dublin accountant Vincent Melinn won the €350,000 first prize in only his second ever live tournament and the final table was broadcast live across Europe – a world’s first!
