Irish Open error

€3,000 missing from the rebuy pot limit Omaha prizepool at the Irish Open goes to charity

The Irish Open is the oldest and most venerated poker tournament in Europe, and you would have thought the organisers would have it running like a well-oiled machine by now.

Not so, as paddypowerpoker.com staff have been so busy at the Irish Open they forgot to add €3,000 to the prizepool of last Saturday’s €300 rebuy pot limit Omaha which was won by ‘man of the moment’ and Irish poker legend Andrew Black.

However, in true paddypowerpoker.com style they have turned the error into something to celebrate as the company has pledged to donate the full amount to Padraig Parkinson’s Simon Dublin charity project for the homeless.

Padraig said of the error: ‘I don’t know who the biggest muppets are, paddypowerpoker for forgetting to add the money to the prizepool or the players in the tournament for not noticing – it’s not like poker players to make a mistake when it comes to counting money! It’s great news for the charity though and it’s the only thing i’ve won all weekend.’

Some of poker’s most influential and well known stars from the US and across Europe played in the 26th Irish Poker Open held at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin over Easter weekend, 6-9 April 2007.
