Huck Seed and Allen Cunningham win Doubles Championship

American duo pocket $1,000,000 prize

While all eyes were on John Duhamel’s WSOP victory this week, another seven-figure payday snuck under the radar. The Full Tilt Doubles Poker Championship attracted some of poker’s biggest stars, but it was American duo Huck Seed and Allen Cunningham who took home the $1,000,000 first prize.

The event’s unique format saw each team member taking it in turns on the different betting streets and, while they could discuss tactics between hands, no conferring was allowed when cards were in play without invoking a 30 second timeout.

In total, 32 players stumped up the $50,000 buy-in, with 16 teams selected at random. Notable partnerships included leading female money winners Annette Obrestad and Annie Duke, alongside the hyper aggressive Gus ‘The Great Dane’ Hansen and Justin Smith.

But it was Seed and Cunningham who fought their way to the title, overcoming the tough paring of Howard Lederer and Phil Gordon heads-up, with eight-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey with Chris Ferguson a close third.

The final table payouts were as follows:

1. Huck Seed and Allen Cunningham $1,000,000
2. Howard Lederer and Phil Gordon $500,000
3. Phil Ivey and Chris Ferguson $200,000
4. Tony G and David Benyamine $100,000
