Hollywood Poker will send a team of celebs to World Series of Poker Ladies Event
It’s all about the World Series of Poker at the moment, being held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As we all know there nearly 50 events and an ocean of poker in all its variants spread over more than a month of action.
The Tournament of Champions was the first big one, won by poker legend Mike Sexton, and now we’re into the nitty gritty of grinding events; as amateurs, qualifiers and pros alike compete for cash and those all important gold bracelets.
Despite what you may think about gender segregation, the Ladies Event is perhaps third only to the Championship Main Event and the big-money, big quality, H.O.R.S.E. Event in terms of hype and anticipation.
That hype continues with Hollywood Poker’s announcement of an All-Star team of female celebrities who will play in the Ladies Event for charity.
The team will be called the Hollywood Poker Diamonds and will feature Anne Heche (“Men in Trees”), playing for Darkness To Light, Kelly Hu (X-2: X-Men United, “In Case of Emergency”) playing for Reef Check Hawaii, Ricki Lake (Park, Cecil B. DeMented) playing for Jacaranda Foundation, Victoria Pratt (“Daybreak”) playing for St. Jude’s, Mimi Rogers (Big Nothing, The Door in the Floor) playing for Dream Foundation, Jean Smart (“24,” Lucky You) playing for Alzheimer’s Association and Mena Suvari (Factory Girl, Domino) playing for World Vision.
Any player on the team who cashes during the tournament will donate 25% percent of their winning to their favourite charity.
The Ladies Event is scheduled for 9-10 July at the Rio.
