Probability plc launch new heads-up poker game for mobile phones
Probability plc, the leading mobile gambling specialist, today announces a major shake up of the poker landscape with the creation of the first ever dedicated “Heads-Up” poker network for mobile phone users.
Charles Cohen, chief executive, says the game has been specially designed for people who already play poker but are looking for “a bit on the side”: furious heads up poker fun, played on their mobile.
LadyLuck’s Head-2-Head poker enables players to find a match in moments on their phone, battling it out for stakes from as little as £1 each. In pre-launch testing most games were done and dusted in less than ten minutes.
Quick and intelligent matching of players for games is also key to satisfying those itchy trigger fingers. Probability has created a sophisticated player matching technology (called ‘Zaphod’) that minimises the time it takes to find a suitable opponent according to their skills and their preferred stake level. Players also have a Facebook style friends list which they can use to play people they already know, as well as a grudge list to get a rematch against someone who has beaten them in the past.
Rakes will be between 5 per cent and 10 per cent – inline with the online gaming industry norms. Players can also choose a personal character, or avatar, which other players will see. A whole library of personalities will be available to suit your mood, including “Death” and a bug-eyed green alien.
Charles Cohen, chief executive, says: “Really, we just want to make poker fun again so we’re offering this game as a cheeky bit on the side that poker players at all levels can enjoy without interfering with the more serious stuff on-line or in a club.
“Heads Up competition has become a lot more popular in the clubs and on-line over the last few years because it offers a different type of poker game, much faster and more tactical than traditional tournament play. You get to use your poker skills and knowledge in a completely different way. It’s also a bit of a leveller, as you are eyeball to eyeball with your opponent and can read their behaviour without the noise of the rest of the table.“
Mr Cohen adds: “We’re really excited by this game. Head-2-head is the perfect poker format for mobile.”
