Brian Hastings wins a phenomenal $4.2m from Isildur1 in one of the craziest days ever of online action
In what will go down as one of the craziest days in online poker history Swedish sensation Isildur1 lost an incredible $4.2m over the course of 2858 hands to Cardrunners pro Brian ‘Stinger’ Hastings. The two were playing $500/$1000 pot-limit Omaha on Full Tilt Poker and everything that possibly could go wrong for Isildur1 did. Hastings is not a regular in the super nosebleed stakes games and perhaps Isildur1 underestimated his abilities as it was a massacre from the start.
Ironically, the day had began brilliantly for Isildur1, winning $471,000 from Jungleman1 at $100/$200 No Limit Hold’em and a further $722,000 from regular foe Brian Townsend at $500/$1000 PLO. It looked like he was firmly on the comeback trail after a torrid few weeks where he had dropped much of the $6m profit he accrued in the early period of November.
Step forward Brian Hastings however who played really well and, admittedly, ran like God – an All-In EV graph on HighstakesDB.com showing that he ran a crazy $3m above expectation – for a total win of $4.2m.
After the most tumultuous few months the high stakes world has ever seen Isildur1 is now back in the red, down nearly $1.6m for the year.
Today’s historic match-up leaves a few questions;
Will Isildur1 continue to take on all-comers at the highest stakes possible?
Will Brian Hastings become a permanent fixture in the high stakes games?
Will Isildur1 go into meltdown?
Will durrrr ever reclaim any of the $5m+ that he lost to Isildur1 earlier this year?
Will the high stakes madness ever end?
