Poker superstar Gus Hansen is top of the WSOP Main Event chip count as play moves into the third day
There’s a very well known name atop the chip count after the conclusion of the two Day 2s of the Main Event at the 2007 World Series of Poker.
Gus ‘The Great Dane’ Hansen is sitting pretty on 622,300 in chips as play moves into Day 3, when all of the remaining players will sit down in one room at the Rio in Las Vegas.
Hansen is having a stellar year, after winning the Aussie Millions and over $1 million in Melbourne, Australia in January, and he now has over $4 million in tournament winning alone.
The Full Tilt pro is one of the most feared players in the world and is also a regular at the Big Game at the Bellagio in Vegas, where the super-rich poker elite do battle for the highest of high stakes.
The Main Event tournament began on 6 July and will run through until 17 July, when the final table will convene.
The $10,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship Event #55 has attracted 6,358 players who have contributed to a total prizepool of $59,784,954, with a first placed prize of $8.25 million.
The chances of a big name pro winning the Main Event are very slim, but you can expect at least one to make the final table, and if Hansen continues on the tear that he is currently on, no one will fancy tangling with him at the endgame.
