Gus Hansen wins Poker Million IX

Gus Hansen beats star-studded final table to take home $1m at the Poker Million IX

Gus Hansen has made it a year to remember, taking down the winner-takes-all Poker Million IX and adding another 2010 title to the WSOPE bracelet that he won just a few months ago.

The Great Dane faced a stellar final table which included fellow Scandi Patrik Antonius, Howard Lederer, Hendon Mobster Barny Boatman and WSOPE main event champ James Bord.

Hansen played an almost perfect game throughout, doubling up through Bord early on and knocking out Lederer, online qualifier Seth Webber and Boatman on his way to the final heads-up with Tony Bloom.

The final hand took place in dramatic fashion – just two hands in – with Hansen making a ballsy hero call against Bloom who moved in A-6. After tanking for several minutes, Hansen called with A-8 and recorded a famous victory.

‘There are a lot of great players in this tournament and it’s always great to get your hands on a trophy. I had a little drought in tournaments but the last couple of months have been good,’ said Hansen.

3. James Bord – $0

4. Barny Boatman – $0

5. Gary Peniket – $0
