Mazhar Nawab wins Leg 6 of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour in Newcastle after a gruelling final table
The latest leg on the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour held in Newcastle has drawn to a close, and Mazhar Nawab has walked away with the £76,000 first place prize after three days of play.
The final nine players sat down at the final table at 4pm on Sunday 22 July, and play went on deep into the night, finally concluding after 4am – the longest final table so far at the GUKPT.
The end came when Nawab got all of his chips in against heads-up opponent Darren Fuller. Nawab was ahead, as his Q-J faced down Fuller’s J-3. A Jack fell on the flop and neither hand improved from there.
After the marathon eleven hour final table, Nawab was gracious in victory, paying tribute to his opponents, before everyone retired for some well earned sleep!
Nawab wins a chunky £66,000 + £10k added by Blue Square.
