The latest leg of the GUKPT takes place in Luton this weekend
The 6th Leg of the 2009 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, in association with Bluesqpoker.com, starts tomorrow (August 1st) at the G Casino in Luton. The 9-day-long festival includes several side events with buy-ins ranging from £100-£500 and a £1,000 main event, which takes place from Thursday 6th – Sunday 9th August. Over 300 players are expected to take part in the main event, including last year’s Luton winner Sam Trickett, who will be hoping to become the first GUKPT winner to successfully defend his title.
The winners of all tournaments during the festival will earn a place into the tour’s end of year Champion of Champions tournament, which features a prize pool of £100,000 provided by Grosvenor Casinos and Bluesqpoker.com.

Rankings Update
The race to win the GUKPT rankings has picked up speed over the summer months. Runaway early leader Sunny Chattha has now been caught and overtaken at the top by London GUKPT winner Martin Silke, following his win in one of the tour’s online festival events.
Newcastle GUKPT winner Tony Phillips has also laid down a challenge, having won a side event at the Walsall Summer Series and finalling in the main event at the same festival. Robert Topp, who now lies in 4th place has secured his current top ten placing entirely from points earned in the Grosvenor & G Casinos National League. With £50,000 in prizes up for grabs, the race to top the leaderboard looks set to be very competitive for the remainder of the year.
