Genting buys Fox Poker Club

Site snaps up London cardroom

The Fox Poker Club, one of London’s premier cardrooms, has been sold to Genting Casinos for an undisclosed sum.

The Fox Poker Club, located on bustling Shaftesbury Avenue, opened a little over a year ago and has grown into one the UK’s best poker venues thanks to a slew of affordable buy-in events, round-the-clock cash games and its association with online site PKR.

The club was established by Ian Hogg and Chris North back in 2005, and received a full casino licence three years ago before opening to the public in September 2010. With over 20,000 members, it marks a major coup for the Malayan based Genting, which recently added the Hendon Mob and James Akenhead to its growing list of pros.

Genting Casinos will add the Fox Poker Club to its fast-growing portfolio of UK gambling establishments, which now numbers 46. And the acquisition ends a busy period for Genting, following the announcement of a new seven stop tournament series with over £800,000 in prizes earlier this month
