GCBPT to air on Setanta Sports

The final table of the GCBPT Grand Final is to be shown on Setanta Sports this week

In its first ever airing on Setanta Sports, the main action of the 2008 Gala Casinos British Poker Tour (GCBPT) Grand Final will be broadcast in an exclusive two hour slot this Thursday the 22nd of January from 8pm until 10pm.

Galapoker.co.uk have teamed up with Setanta Sports in an exclusive partnership to broadcast a two hour edited highlights show of the GCBPT Championship Event, which took place in December 2008 at the Gala Harbourside Casino in Bristol UK.

GCBPT Tour Manager Mark O’Donnell said “It’s a unique opportunity to watch some of the game’s best players battle it out on prime-time TV to be ‘Great British Poker Champion 2008’. There’s a real mix of pros, veterans, amateurs and online players in the final that make it really thrilling, and the final table is action-packed, definitely the best on the whole tour.”

The Gala Casinos British Poker Tour has been a hugely successful, sell-out tour, with waiting lists and packed cardrooms from Edinburgh to Teesside via Nottingham, Bristol and Liverpool. More than 3,100 players battled it out to win in excess of £1.1m over the course of 2008. It has been dubbed the ‘People’s Poker Tour’ because of its balance between amateur and professional players, with plenty of opportunities to qualify for free or as little as a tenner online – it really is open to everyone.

The Grand Final of the nationwide ‘People’s Poker Tour’ saw 177 players from across Europe battling it out over four days for the chance to take the prestigious Great British Poker Champion title and claim their share of the huge £265,500 prize pool.

The 2008 GCBPT Grand Final is due to be broadcast on Setanta Sports 2 this Thursday night (22nd Jan) in a one-off two-hour special, between 8pm and 10pm. You can view Setanta Sports 2 on Sky channel 424, Virgin Media 539, Tiscali 556 or at Setanta.com.
