The latest stop on the Great British Poker Tour is the Gala Casino in Leeds, between 15 and 19 August
The Main Event of latest leg of the Great British Poker Tour, that will take in the Gala Casino Leeds, from 18–19 August 2007, is sold out with 110 pros. amateurs and celebrities already confirmed.
The latest leg of the tour runs from 15-19 August, with the Main Event a £500 + £50 No Limit Hold’em Freeze Out with £5,000 added, players will receive 10,000 in chips and play to a 60 minute clock.
Attending professional players include: Joe Beevers, Ross and Barny Boatman of the Hendon Mob; Jon Kalmar, 5th place in the 2007 WSOP winning US$1,255,069 and WSOP bracelet winner Willie Tann with lifetime earnings of over US$1,300,000.
Celebrity entrants joining the best of local Leeds poker talent include Great Britain Rugby League Captain and Leeds Rhinos player, Jamie Peacock, who will attend with teammates Lee Smith and Danny McGuire.
Snooker legend, Ken Doherty, will be hoping finesse can beat brawn as he and Olympic Gold medalist Darren Campbell also join the roster of stars set to play in the competition.
The winner of the televised event will walk away with a tidy sum of nearly £21,000 as well as a place in the GBPT Grand Final in early November 2007.
In addition to the title of Great British Poker Champion 2007, the Grand Final winner will also take home an estimated £165,000 and an all-expenses paid trip to the Bellagio Five Diamond World Poker Classic in Las Vegas in December 2007.
