Flamand takes down Sky Poker Tour London

Aaron Flamand defeats Chris Love heads-up to capture London leg of Sky Poker Tour

The concluding chapter of London’s seminal month of hosting all manner of poker tournaments has finished. With a jam-packed schedule of tours and events taking place throughout the month including the likes of the EPT, WPT, UKIPT, the Premier League VI and of course the PokerStars vs Full Tilt grudge match, there genuinely was something for everybody – both spectators and players alike.

Given the honour of signing off one of the city’s most memorable months of poker was the Sky Poker Tour London leg. And like a handful of other big events this month it took place at the Aspers Casino Westfield in Stratford City.

Attracting a record 267 players for the £200 buy-in Main Event, an impressive £53k prizepool was raised and the top 36 finishers made the money.

As well as plenty of amateurs, there were a handful of top-name pros in the field too, most notably Julian Thew and recently signed IveyPoker pro James Dempsey. Unusually though Thew didn’t make the final table, perhaps the man from Nottingham decided it was time to give someone else a chance.

At the end of two action-packed days of poker it was Chris Love and Aaron Flamand who were the two men left standing to battle it out for the title and of course the £11,905 first prize. And it was Flamand who came out on top to take the trophy after his king-high flush beat Love’s smaller flush in the final hand.

Here’s how the final table finished up:

1. Aaron Flamand – £11,905
2. Chris Love – £8,275
3. Abdul Miah – £5,320
4. Bruce Clements – £3,940
5. James Plumer – £2,955
6. Valdir Cordeiro – £2,365
7. Marco Vasconcelos – £1965
8. Silvano Lieghio – £1,575
9. Sam Bayliss – £1,180
