Facebook could be on the verge of becoming the Internet’s largest poker room.
Starting from this week the social media giant is offering UK Facebook users the possibility to gamble with real money. Gamesys one of the UK’s leading Bingo and Slots websites has partnered up with Facebook to create “Bingo and Slots Friendzy” a site that allows users to gamble with real money for the first time in the sites history.
Last year, Facebook relaxed its rules about gambling related advertising and content and since then there has been a slew of poker programmes that have offered cash prizes but never full real-money gambling. The new Bingo product is the first to offer cash deposits and withdrawals, but currently it is limited to players here in the UK.
The move shows that Facebook sees gambling in its future and if products like Zynga Poker manage to gain the authority to swap virtual chips for real ones the app which has 7.5 million users could become the Internets largest poker room overnight.
Currently, Facebook has commented that it has no immediate plans to increase the number of real money gambling products but going by this latest news the possibility is stronger than ever and it looks like the UK could be the first country to test out Facebook Poker if and when it goes live.
