Extra day added to European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo set for end of March

Season 3 of the European Poker Tour is due to close in Monte Carlo at the end of this month, and it looks to be the biggest and best yet.

EPT has announced that, due to unprecedented demand for seats, an extra day has been added to the end of the EPT Grand Final event in Monte Carlo.

The Grand Final, held at the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort, Monaco, will now run for six days, from Wednesday 28 March to Monday 2 April.

EPT Director John Duthie commented, "Adding an extra day at the end means we can accommodate larger numbers without compromising the quality of the tournament itself. The blind levels will remain at 90 minutes, which I know the players appreciate."

"I’m looking forward to seeing some of the world’s best players taking each other on in Monte Carlo. Given the high level of advance bookings, I am confident this will be the biggest poker event ever staged in Europe."

The European Poker Tour, sponsored by PokerStars.com, is expecting a record field for the €10,000 buy-in Grand Final, which has a guaranteed first prize of €1,000,000.

The tournament will be attended by top players from around the world including Team PokerStars players such as WSOP champions Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer and Chris Moneymaker, as well as fellow team members Barry Greenstein, Bill Chen and Isabelle Mercier.

The EPT German Open in Dortmund, which finished last Sunday, saw a record field of 493 players for the €5,000 event, beating the previous record of 480 runners for the EPT Barcelona in September.

Players can still qualify for the EPT Grand final on PokerStars.com, with satellites starting from $8.80.

New schedule for the EPT Grand Final, Monte Carlo:

Day 2: Friday 30th March
