Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier has won his first WSOP bracelet and is the fourth person to complete the Triple Crown
ElkY has just won his first WSOP bracelet, taking down the $10k Seven Card Stud Championship and completing poker’s prestigious Triple Crown.
The Frenchman beat Steve Landfish – an American tournament grinder with several decent WSOP and WPT cashes to his name – after an epic four hour heads-up.
Landfish had a slight lead over ElkY going into heads-up but it didn’t take long for him to extend his advantage and leave the Team PokerStars pro with just 2.5 big blinds.
Somehow ElkY made a stunning revival and clawed his way back to parity. The lead see-sawed between them but the crucial hand came when Landfish managed to miss all his straight and flush draws and was left with just a big blind.
The rest of the chips went in shortly after and ElkY completed perhaps the most impressive Triple Crown to date. In 2008 he won both the $25k WPT Championship and the PCA. ElkY is the second person to complete his Triple Crown this Series, after Brit Jake Cody won Heads-Up Championship last week.
