Durrrr proves his class by destroying Sammy George heads-up in the Million Dollar Challenge
After a narrow loss and win against Marcello ‘luckexpress’ Marigliano and Ziigmund respectively, Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan rounded off his live Million Dollar Challenge by beating the hapless Brit Sammy George out of $750,000.
This was the most anticipated contest of the week with bookmakers offering huge 3/1 odds on underdog Sammy to win. With both buying in for $250k and the blinds set at $500/$1000 it soon became clear that there was a gulf in class though, durrrr continually making the better decisions. The first huge hand was a classic cooler though, Sammy holding A-K against Dwan’s pocket Aces. All the money went in the middle before the flop, the Aces holding up and forcing Sammy to make the first of multiple rebuys.
After that it became a classic durrrr highlights reel, including one hand where he shoved all-in with 7-2 on a Jh-Ah-6h-3c-3d board. George held A-6 for two pair and agonised over the call for several minutes before finally folding. Of course, Dwan then flipped his huge bluff in a hand that should become a classic when it is screened on TV in the new year. The game finally came to a close in the early hours of the morning, with Sammy calling it a day after another stacking by Dwan. When the two were finished Dwan left the table with $1,000,000 – $750k of that clear profit.
It was also the end of the week-long Durrrr Million Dollar Challenge. With all three games combined, durrrr finished over $800k in profit. That’s a remarkable result considering the incredible losses durrrr has had online in the last fortnight to new sensation Isildur1. I bet Dwan is wishing he could play Sammy George every day from now on.
