D-Day for Nottingham super-card-club Dusk Till Dawn as Nottingham prepares for landmark hearing
Dusk Till Dawn (DTD), potentially Europe’s largest card room, will be attending Nottingham Magistrates Court on 24 September for its Casino License hearing. If it’s successful, it will become the UK’s first legal poker club.
However, the club’s opening is being challenged by three casinos, Gala, Stanleys and London Clubs International who are objecting on the grounds of “insufficient demand.”
Rob Yong, Managing Director of DTD, says: “This has nothing to do with ‘insufficient demand’, it’s just an attempt by the big boys to keep a stranglehold on their monopoly. They only care about profits and not about their players.”
The hearing is expected to last four days from 24-28 September and on the final day the three magistrates sitting on the case will give their verdict and make an historic decision.
The club has already gained a Certificate of Consent and is the first club ever to have been given the full backing of the Gaming Board.
If the court rules in favour of DTD, the club will open shortly afterwards and will be capable of seating 405 players at any one time. This is almost four times larger then any other card room in the UK.
It will also create over one hundred new jobs and significant revenue for the city of Nottingham in the form of additional taxes and increased tourism, as the club will host major international poker tournaments.
