Snooker legend Steve Davis makes the cash at the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event
Fifteen Team Ladbrokes players including team captain Steve Davis have cashed in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas this year this year.
Steve finished in 379th beating his personal best record and outlasting another well known sporting personality who played in this years WSOP, cricketer, Shane Warne.
Steve who cashed $28,000 said: ” It was a fantastic experience. I lost to a Texas legend Hoyt Corkins, so even though he busted my aces with his kings perhaps he’s paid his dues enough to deserve it. There’s no tournament quite like this and once again the Ladbrokes team have had a good showing.”
Of the rest of the team, Peter Eastgate, is on target to make the World Series of Poker final table. Currently sitting in fourth position out of the 27 players left, he has over nine million chips and only one more day of play ahead of him before the final table is determined.
Edward Ihre MD of Ladbrokes Poker commented: “Our mission this year was to ensure one of our players made it to the final table. We’re really pleased with Peter’s performance and we’re confident that he will be one of the nine returning to Vegas in November.”
“Its a shame that our sponsored poker pro Jeff ‘Jaffacake ‘Kimber was so unlucky. It would have been great to have two of our players in the top nine of the WSOP”
Jeff Kimber a Ladbrokes Sponsored Pro from Newcastle went out cruelly in 120th place, cashing $41k when he pushed all in pre-flop with pocket Ks only to be called by pocket 9s, which connected with another 9 and a pair of 10s on the flop to make a full house!
