Local player David Harris wins the first leg of the 2010 Coral.co.uk British Masters Poker Tour
Local poker player David Harris won the first leg of the 2010 Coral.co.uk British Masters Poker Tour, which took place over the weekend at Gala Casino, Harbourside, Bristol.
David, a regular player at the casino, was cheered on by a large crowd as he beat a field of 109 to claim the title of Bristol champion and nearly £16,000 on Sunday night. He also takes the first seat at the end-of-season play-off, which will see the Coral.co.uk British Masters Poker Champion 2010 crowned.
Harris secured the title when all the chips went in against heads-up opponent Tom Fielding on an 8-high flop. Harris held T-8 which was ahead of Fielding’s 8-4. A ten on the river sealed it for Harris.
After presenting David with his trophy, tour manager Mark O’Donnell said, ‘It has been another great event here in Bristol, and we deliberately kicked off the CBMPT here because we knew it would live up to the cracking standard that was displayed here last year. It is possibly one of the toughest local fields on the tour, and the final table proved that.’
The tour now moves onto Leeds on 11th-13th June.
