It is qualifier time again at Bodog, and this time, it’s a chance for five European players to take on the best in the world at the Irish Open in March.
Qualifiers are alreday underway, and players are being offered the chance to win a seat at the Open for as little as $1. Five semi-final winners will receive the €4,200 buy–in + €300 registration fee, along with travel and accommodation expenses. Qualifiers, cheap seat and quarter-finals run every day of the week.
“We’ve been delighted so far with the take-up of our offers to European players, and we’re expecting another battle royale for the five seats to the Irish Open. We wish everybody luck and look forward to seeing some new Team Bodog faces in Dublin,” said Calvin Ayre, founder of Bodog.
The Irish Open is always a popular tournament, and this year sees it staking a claim to be Europe’s biggest. The tournament runs from 19-24 March, and up to 1,000 players will fight it out for a guaranteed €3 million prize pool at the City West Hotel in Dublin.
In 2007, Marty Smyth got the home crowd cheering by defeating a field of 708 to lift the Terry Rogers Memorial trophy and claim the €650,000 first prize after an epic heads-up battle with Roland De Wolfe.
For a chance to win a seat to the Irish Open, players must register at www.bodoglife.co.uk/poker and play in tournaments titled “Irish Open” under the “Daily” and “Special” or “Irish Open” tabs. Qualifiers run daily, and four semi-final tournaments will run weekly starting Sunday, 10 February, 2008 until the final two seats have been awarded on 2 March 2008.
