Big Night Of High Stakes Action

Ziigmund has a huge day online while Isildur1 continues to suffer big swings

The Isildur1 story has taken some more twists and turns in the last two days as the unknown Swede has played some marathon sessions against Brian Townsend, Patrik Antonius, Tom Dwan and Ziigumund with mixed results.

The first contender to step up and take on Isildur1 was former online poster boy Brian Townsend on Wednesday. Back in 2007 Townsend went on a similar tear up through the stakes, taking on all-comers and winning before a huge downswing in 2008 saw him disappear from the scene for a while. Townsend was also one of the first players that Isildur1 really solidly defeated on his current rush a few weeks ago. The rematch took place on the $200/$400 PLO tables, substantially lower stakes than the $500/$1000 we have almost exclusively seen Isildur1 at.
Despite the smaller stakes Townsend managed to put on an exhibition, winning $1.1m over the long session before leaving.

If we’ve learnt anything about Isildur1’s mentality in the last few weeks though it is that he will not quit. The next day he was straight back into the $500/$1000 games, taking on Antonius, durrrr and Ziigmund – sometimes all at the same time! Yesterday was altogether better for the young phenom though, crushing Antonius for $1.6m and winning another $655k from the hapless durrrr who is in the midst of a $7m downswing.

Step forward Ziigmund. Commonly referred to as one of the top PLO cash players in the world the lively Finn has taken a backseat since Isildur1 appeared, content to largely watch while he played big-hitters like durrrr, Antonius and Phil Ivey. Everything went his way yesterday however as he stole back $1.5m of Isildur1’s profits in a short but explosive 600-hand session.

Despite that late setback Isildur1 still finished his mammoth day with $1.2m in profit. It would be a shock if there wasn’t more action today though so all the profit/loss charts are essentially meaningless until a) he quits, b) he goes busto or c) he sends the entire Team Full Tilt crew busto. Roll on the next round…
