Essex online player wins a new set of wheels with pocket rockets
One lucky Betfair Poker player will be the envy of his friends after winning a brand new a convertible MINI Cooper worth £19,000 after winning an online tournament.
Phil Kennedy, 24 from Essex, had his transportation problems solved when he won first prize in Betfair Poker’s Twelve Plays of Christmas promotion, and he was at Betfair HQ this week to pick up his fantastic prize.
Not only that, Kennedy won the motor with a hand every poker player dreams about getting at a final table. “I had pocket rockets up against ace nine; I watched the cards being dealt out and knew that a hot set of wheels was mine. Lovely!” Kennedy said yesterday.
Kennedy said that he was keen to leave the branding on because “it will turn more heads that way” but would have to speak to his wife about it. Until now he was borrowing his mum’s car which makes this win especially sweet. He started playing online poker about a year and a half ago and now plays full time on Betfair Poker.
The Betfair Poker Team took Phil and his girlfriend out to lunch followed by a tour of the office before getting together with Andrew ‘Bert’ Black (co-founder of Betfair) for the handover.
It all adds up to a busy week in the news for Betfair who seem to be going from strength to strength, not only in business and financial terms, but also in terms of the company’s ability to connect with the punters.
