jenbizzle banks £17k prize
The WSOP is over and it’s back to business in Blighty, where experienced online pro Ben ‘jenbizzle’ Jones took down GUKPT Bolton for a tasty £17,390 and a free seat in the GUKPT Champion of Champions £100,000 tournament.
Jones, who has over $300,000 in online winners, battled past 114 players at Bolton’s G Casino to ship the £500 Six-Max Main Event and the lion’s share of the £57,000 prizepool.
After three days of hard-fought action, Jones dominated the final table and a series of fortunate matchups, including one against Day 3 chip leader Liam Hooks, which left him with almost three-quarters of the chips in play four-handed.
And after whittling the field down to just he and runner up Dave Wearing, Jones, a six-max specialist, went into heads up play with a ten to one chip lead and sealed the deal after just 15 minutes when his A-J held against Wearing’s Q-J.
Wearing, who took home £12,260 for his performance, also won the GUKPT Shoal Survivor prize for outlasting all other live qualifiers. He receives £500 in GUKPT vouchers to use in events of his choice.
But with Bolton done and dusted, the next event on the GUKPT calendar is a big one! The tour pulls in for Leg 9 in Coventry, and includes the record-attempting Goliath tournament running from the 22nd-27th August.
The £1,000 GUKPT Main Event also runs alongside the Goliath, from the 25th-27th, with qualifiers for both running on grosvenorpoker.com.
