Player of the week: skjervoy

It’s been an unbelievable eight months for Andreas ‘skjervoy’ Torbergsen. The Internet Poker Player of the Year is up almost $5 million and furthered his reputation this week, banking just shy of $1 million.

But while skjervoy may be this week’s best player, story of the week goes to the infamous Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom. The Swede has been fairly quiet since singing for PokerStars, well, by Isildur1 standards anyway, but not any more.

Blom spun up $1.1 million in two days battling Scott ‘urnotindangr’ Palmer on PokerStars $100/$200 PLO tables. Barely a day later, the high-stakes Swing King had almost lost it all.

Users gavz101 and compris were the beneficiaries, taking the Swede for $519,000 and $201,000 repsectively. But never one to let a downswing bother him, Blom finished the week strongly to bank $579,000 in profit.

Hand of the week:

Out pot of choice comes from Scott ‘urnotindangr’ Palmer and Isildur1 conqueror gavz101. The duo were part of a six-max $100/$200 PLO war on PokeStars, which included big names Theo J, MrSweets28 and compris.

urnotindangr raised to $600 from the button with 3h-3d-As-Ad and was threebet to $1,900 by gavz101 in the big blind holding a draw heavy 8d-9h-Jd-5h. urnotindangr made it $5,800 to go and the board came 7d-6h-9d, giving urnotindangr a nut flush draw and a nine-high straight and inside straight flush draw.

All the money went in the middle and gavz101’s straight held up for a whopping $151,258 pot
