Hall of Famer can’t stop winning
Being a professional poker player would be pretty cool. Being a professional poker player for more than two decades even cooler. So how cool is winning $3.5 million in just eight weeks? Well, really, really cool.
Ladies and gentlemen, Erik Seidel is on arguably the biggest heater ever seen. Since January, the 51-year-old Poker Hall of Famer has won two high roller events, final tabled 6 times, leapfrogged Phil Ivey in the all-time money list and racked up $3,592,283 in tournament winnings.
After two final tables at January’s PCA, Seidel added to his unbelievable run with another two final tables at the Aussie Millions, including a first place in the $250,000 Super High Roller for $2,472,555.
And this week the High Roller King added another jewel to his crown, the $25,100 LAPC High Roller for $144,570, seeing off the challenge of Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier and Darren Elias after the trio had agreed a final table deal.
Seidel has struggled in recent years to recapture the form that won him eight-WSOP bracelets in days gone by. But there’s not a cap in the world that hasn’t be doffed in the face of his 2011 results, just ask John Juanda.
‘So I decided to skip all future highroller events that @Erik_Seidel plays. No point playing for 2nd!’ Juanda Tweeted this week.
Here’s how the new all-time money winners list is looking:
1 Daniel Negreanu $14,116,192
2 Erik Seidel $13,947,297
3 Phil Ivey $13,859,944
4 Jamie Gold $12,231,105
5 Phil Hellmuth $11,445,926
