Brits to star at Heads-Up Poker Championship

Bord and Boeree named in stellar field

EPT titles, WSOP bracelets, and WPT championships have all found their way into British hands recently and now the much-loved NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship could be next on the list.

2010 WSOPE winner James Bord and EPT San Remo champ Liv Boeree have been included in the tough 64-runner field, alongside the likes of Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius, Tom Dwan and several big names from poker’s old guard.

To spice things up a little, several dark horses have been offered a wildcard, with actor Don Cheadle the pick of the bunch, while last year’s champ Annie Duke is also among those coughing up the $25,000 buy-in, up $5,000 from 2010, with a whopping $750,000 first prize up for grabs.

But the real story is the return of 2008 Main Event champ Peter Eastgate, who’s stepped out of retirement to take on poker’s biggest stars once again, and the inclusion of 2010 internet star Dan ‘jungleman12’ Cates.
