Poker’s premier cruise drops anchor

Ladbrokes star Norman Pace takes us through his highlights of the Ladbrokes Poker Cruise IV:

‘146 runners and their families gathered together on the biggest ship in the world, the Oasis of the Seas.

The ‘Oasis’ houses, or should I say, ships, over 6, 000 passengers. Most of whom are of the fat, old, yank variety.

By comparison, the Laddies contingent, small but perfectly formed, hardly made an indentation on the in the cellulite on the copious rump of the American tourist classes. Nonetheless, we had a bloody good time, swimming in the pool of poker and reclining in the jacuzzi of alcohol.

I first went on a poker cruise back in 2005, Laddies Cruise Number 2. It’s easy to see how far the game of Texas Hold’em has come since then. Although the field was a quarter of the size of the field, the standard of play is much higher. The advent of poker teaching aids on the internet and in magazines like PokerPlayer makes Harrington on Hold’em and SuperSystem look decidedly last generation.

One last word about Ladbrokes. When you go on one of their live events, the poker may be paramount, but they never let it get in the way of a good time and I’d like to say thank you for having me on board.’
